Lovely pair of Victorian Aesthetic Movement style brass firedogs or andirons made in England. As Britain had moved to using coal for heating, smaller firedogs replaced andirons and were used primarily as tool rests and thus became smaller in size. More recently cleaned, polished and lacquered. Warm patina and signs of age and use.
