Good conditions, except for little tears along the right margin and some folds. This print is from the illustrated book "Französische plakate des 19. jahrhunderts" by Christina Thon realized for Staatlichen Museen in Berlin. Plate II. Edited by Gebr. Mann Verlag. Printed in Western Germany. This vintage poster was realized as an advertising poster for the famous French brewery "Bieres de la Meuse". It portrays a woman with red long hair and a blue dress whilst holding a bundle of wheat in her hands. Inscribed "Imprimeries Lemercier, 57, Rue de Seine Paris". The poster includes another image at its bottom of the goddess of the river Meuse, made by another artist. By the 1890s, posters had taken center stage in the visual culture of the French capital. The Parisian billboards were the official posting places for advertising posters, becoming real ‘street galleries’, influencing the commercial success of both advertisers and artists designing the posters. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
