The capitalist is an artwork realized by Mino Maccari in 1960s. Pen drawing with artist's monogram below. 9x11 cm; 11 x 15 cm with acrylic frame. Good condtions. Mino Maccari was born in Siena in 1898. from an early age, extroverted and endowed with a lively visual intelligence, he was drawn towards free drawing with charcoal, but his father, a professor of literature, tried in every way to direct him towards humanistic studies. After completing his secondary education, he enrolls in university. An interventionist like many young people of his time, he took part at the age of only 19 as a Field Artillery Officer in the Great War. Maccari collaborated with Ardengo Soffici, Ottone Rosai and Achille Lega. In the meantime, between 1927 and 1930, he made himself known to the general public as a painter by participating in various national exhibitions. His graphic production is also vast, ranging from the “Album di Vallecchi” (1925), The “trastullo di Strapaese” (1928) to “Linoleum” (1931). In 1934 Maccari illustrated Antonio Baldini's "La vecchia del Bal Bullier" and in 1942 he published the "Album" folder, followed by "Come when it rains outside" and "Il superfluo illustrata". For his pictorial work, full of evident chromatic accentuations and quick brushstrokes, the violent drawing combined with the lively stroke of the graphic sign of his engravings, he is recognized by critics as a complete artist. After the Second World War he still continues to acquire recognition, thanks to a prolific creative work, and to present personal exhibitions. In 1962 he was also entrusted with the presidency of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome and managed to obtain a personal exhibition at Gallery 63 in New York. His production of drawings, watercolors, temperas, etc. is extensive, sometimes in collaboration with prestigious publishing houses. It is worth mentioning, just as an excellent example, the 32 black and white and color drawings with which he illustrated "The taste of living", a volume that collects writings by Giancarlo Fusco, edited by Natalia Aspesi and published by Laterza in 1985. He died at the age of ninety in Rome, June 16, 1989. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
