This outstanding modern Nymphenburg pair features ducks on frothy waves. Designed in 1955 by Luise Terletzki-Scherf (1902-1966), these large, hand-painted figures are vibrantly colored and beautifully detailed. They are featured in Alfred Ziffer's "Nymphenburger Moderne" (Minerva edition).
Although a modern creation, this representation evokes the elegance of 18th-century Chinese Export large scale porcelain duck figures, making it a timeless statement piece. Their rarity makes them perfect for an entryway or living room, where their striking presence can truly shine.
The undersides bear the green stamped Nymphenburg shield, West Germany mark (used from 1949 to 1975), along with an impressed Wittelsbach shield, model number 971, and number 8. The tall duck is marked a. and the short duck b.
