Alfred-Arthur Brunel de Neuville was a French painter. In his twenties, he became renowned for his famous animal and still life paintings. This particular piece was done in the realism style. A group of kittens are set against a dark background and are portrayed as somewhat mischievous. There is a bowl of milk set in front of them. The signature can be found on the lower right of the front of the canvas.
