The translucent depth of the beautiful turquoise cloisonné with its tiny clam shell texture has a large purple, two smaller pink, cobalt blue chrysanthemums, and multiple shades of green leaves.
Because of the color, brass fittings, and delicate craftsmanship, this vase is clearly a Meiji-era Ginbari, but there are no markings so I have to say 'in the style of.' It does not hold water.
It has been in our family for four generations and has been used as a lamp since the 1930s, so I am certain of its late 19th-century date.
