Primula was inspired by a series of Victorian botanical illustrations studying the many unique forms of the Primula plant family. A symbol of optimism and renewal, primulas are among the first flowers to bloom in the early springtime. In fact the name primula comes from the latin ‘primus’, meaning first.
The genus Primula, of which the heirloom primrose is a part, was first named by 18th century Swedish botanist Carl von Linnaeus, though the earliest records of the flower date to the 1500’s. These timeless blooms have been cherished throughout Europe for centuries due to their medicinal properties, and their fragrant blooms.
