This is a beautiful antique perfume bottle by Theo Ricksecker, a renowned New York perfumer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The bottle is made of cream-colored Victorian Bristol glass that has a slightly rosy hue, and features a delicate floral design in shades of brown and blue. The design appears to be hand-painted and adds a touch of elegance to the piece.
Marked: "Theo Ricksecker Perfumer. New-York." on the back, "Made in Austria" on the bottom
The bottle is in excellent condition for its age, with no chips or cracks. It is a rare and collectible item that would be a great addition to any perfume bottle collection or add a touch of elegance to any decor, and makes a great conversation piece!
Theodore Ricksecker is credited to have been the first American to establish a perfumery company, launching his first fragrance in 1868. Over the decades, he became renowned for his rich spice and floral fragrances in perfumes and colognes. His use of pottery and glass, in a variety of shapes, colors, techniques, and sizes were part of the appeal -- then, as is now for collectors.
