This is a Absolutely Beautiful - Finest Quality and Quite Rare Antique Sheffield Silverplate Bride's Basket. LARGE SIZE!. Produced During the Early Elkington Manufacturing Era it Bears the Well Documented Hallmarks of Elkington, Mason & Company that was Used From 1842 to 1861. The Hallmarks Also Include the "P" Date Letter Confirming that The Basket Was Produced in 1854. Bridal Baskets were Traditionally Used in Wedding Processions During the Classic Victorian Era For Carrying Flower Blossoms and Displaying the Bridal Bouquet During the Reception. It is Rendered in a Very Fancy - Elaborate Rococo Influenced Style That Includes a Intricate Bold , High Relief Solid Cast Reticulated Trailing Grape Cluster and Vine Swing Handle and Outer Perimeter. The Basin of the Basket is Adorned with 7 Raised Repousse Panels Depicting Various Fruits & Flowers Etc. - Each Completely Hand Hand Chased & Hand Engraved with Outstanding Attention to Detail - Obviously the Work of a Master Engraver - Silversmith. The Result is Absolutely Stunning and Can Only Truly be Appreciated When it is Viewed in Hand ( Cannot be Accurately Depicted with my Listing Photographs ). The Basket is Constructed Out of a Very Heavy Hard Metal ( Possibly Nickel Silver ?) with a Total Weight of Over 45 Troy Ounces!. It has Heavy Silver Deposit - Plated Surfaces Designed to Polish Beautifully for Generations. It is in Excellent Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has No Damage - No Repairs - No Excessive Wear to the Silver Plate. There is Some Very Light Tarnish to the Base and Underside that will Easily Polish up Beautifully.
