The highly scrolled front legs with volute whorl feet are fronted by a large, scalloped shell. A third leg extends behind the chenet; these elevated bars allow the wood to be stacked with air flow to feed a fire. Rising above each shell is a vertical column topped with a cupped finial. A three-tiered bracket is affixed around the column and would have once been used to support a cooking spit or a crémaillère. The thick fireplace accessories have a gray hue with areas containing an orange patina from light oxidation. Our thickly wrought iron chenets would be wonderful additions to any fireplace. See less
