Offering an incredible porcelain scalloped shell vase by renowned Hollywood ceramicist Hedwig 'Hedi' Schoop (1906-1995). A Swiss-born German dancer, cabaret performer, and artist, Schoop fled Nazi Germany and immigrated to the US in 1933. Settling in North Hollywood, California, Schoop founded her own ceramics studio where her popular designs were produced from 1940 to 1958, when the studio was destroyed by fire.
An innovator of mid-century California pottery design, Schoop became one of the most commercially successful California ceramics designers of the postwar period. She is widely regarded as one of the most talented artists working in California in the 1940's and 1950's, and this incredible Hollywood Regency-style vase shows exactly why. Very much "of the era," this beautiful piece features exquisitely delicate detailing together with vibrant gold accents. If this vase doesn't scream 'Old Hollywood,' I don't know what does! Just beautiful. Vase is signed 'Hedi Schoop - Hollywood, California' on the bottom.
