Born in Oran (Algeria) in 1939 and passed away in Paris in 2002, he was a French painter, engraver, and lithographer.
Most of his works depict Paris, but also London, Venice, New York, Boston, and San Francisco.
He painted streets, shops, cafés, courtyards, old facades, and restaurant interiors.
He described his own work as "poetic realism."
In 1945, his family, originally from Provence, left Algeria to settle in the south of France. His father was a winegrower.
André Renoux began his art studies in 1957 at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice, continuing in Paris at the École Supérieure des Arts Modernes.
He quickly moved to Montmartre. Renoux was a keen observer of even the smallest details, which he meticulously captured in his paintings.
His mastery lay in infusing each work with a sense of timelessness, idealism, and dreams.
His paintings evoke emotions of charm and nostalgia, reflecting the softness and kindness in his gaze.
Throughout his career, he consistently showcased his paintings annually in France and around the world.
He exhibited in Lebanon, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, Australia, and Italy, with numerous exhibitions in Rome,
as well as in the United States (New York, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis, Palm Beach, Phoenix, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, among others).
He also achieved great success in Japan, where a book was dedicated to him.
He was featured in articles in the New York Times, Arts News, Art in America, Art Business News, Art Review, a major Japanese magazine, and many French newspapers.
Renoux's works have entered prestigious collections, and the city of Paris honored him by exhibiting some of his pieces at the Carnavalet Museum in 2010.
