Édouard Pignon (1905-1993) was born in Bully-les-Mines, France, and worked as a photographer and for a telephone company while developing his skills as an artist. He moved to Paris to immerse himself in its culture and, in 1985, showcased three hundred works in a retrospective exhibition.
