1 Beautiful Historic British Decorative Framed Artwork Stag Looking At A Bee Tapestry Sampler By Rachel 1831 Oswestry National School.
Subject needlework tapestry sampler of a stag looking at a bee above with trees and a pretty floral border, all hand cross stitched. The maker is Rachel Farmer and it reads Rachel Farmer's work aged 9 1831 Oswestry National School. Also having a motto verse "Come O my Saviour, come away Into my soul descend, No longer from thy creature stay, My author and my end".
Circa William IV era dated 1831.
The National Schools were founded in the early 19th century by the National Society for Promoting Religious Education, an organization associated with the Church of England. In Oswestry, when the existing school facilities became insufficient.
Made from wool and set in a recent Larson Juhl black gold paint leaf finish Verdi collection Ayous wood LCD moulded frame. With an AR70 front protective glass cover. Also set in white mount with a gold colour border.
