The vase Is decorated with a dynamic glossy mottled / speckled and streaked glaze in shades of blue ranging from aqua, turquoise, and robin's egg to darker accents of purple at the shoulders and cobalt and navy toward the base. The vase is in very good condition with crazing overall and typical scuffs on the foot rim, measuring 6.5 in. height x 3.75 in. diameter (at widest). Full impressed marks on the base include 2619 model number over the company's first period potting mark/logo, ROYAL / LANCASTRIAN / ENGLAND.

Pilkington's Tile and Pottery Company was founded in 1891 at Clifton Junction in Manchester. The company employed artists and chemists including John Chambers and William Burton, but also commissioned work from well-known designers of the era including C.F.A. Voysey, Walter Crane, Gordon Forsyth, and Lewis Day. Pilkington's used technical expertise and innovation to develop a range of striking artistic glazes, exhibiting the results at international exhibitions including Paris 1900, Milan 1904, Brussels 1910, and Turin 1911. King George V awarded the company a Royal Warrant in 1913 resulting in a name change to Pilkington’s Royal Lancastrian Pottery Company.
