Rare and collectible desk designed by a.r.p. (atelier de recherches plastiques) and manufactured by minvielle, france 1955. Studio a.r.p. Was an association between three talented designers; pierre guariche, joseph-andré motte and michel mortier. They all met during their experience at the agency a.r.h.e.c of marcel gascoin, at the same time a meeting point place but above all a training place of the first french designers. This desk is an outcome of that group of designers who sticked their hease together. Where every designer had their own part in the design, construction wise, material wise, aesthetic wise. This desk has a solid steel frame, painted in black. The metal frame has as a very appealing line play. From all angles the desk appears to have a different form. The plywood top has a blue laminated finish which is very typical for the period of time, laminate was just discovered and applied a lot on furniture of that period, it was strong and durable. The desk is in fantastic condition. Published in several important french design books. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
