Presented here are two ceramic plates by the late French actor and sculptor, Jean Marais. Both depict Marais' trademark surrealist figures inspired by his parter, Jean Cocteau.
They are made from terracotta with one glazed in black enamel. Each are signed at the bottom front and have holes and strings on the back for mounting. They measure 13 1/4" in height, 10 1/2" in width, and 3/4" in depth.
Sourced from an estate in Monaco, these plates are in excellent condition with only subtle wear commensurate with age.
