gunnar ander (1908–1976) was a swedish designer known for his artistic talent and significant contributions to scandinavian design. Born in lidköping, ander showed early promise, illustrating for a local newspaper as a teenager before studying at the royal academy of fine arts in stockholm.

in the late 1940s or early 1950s, he joined ystad-metall, where he created some of the company’s most iconic designs, particularly his brass candle holders, which remain highly sought after today. Ander also worked for lindshammar glassworks and was a key designer at scandia present ab. Throughout his career, he crafted a wide range of functional and decorative objects in brass, glass, wrought iron, and silver plate, leaving a lasting legacy in swedish design.
