An English burl mahogany and inlay jewelry box from the 1800s. The domed top of this square box has an inlaid cartouche of ebony, birdseye maple, and oak with brass banding outlined in a narrow border of contrasting marquetry. The box opens on brass hinges to a tufted pink silk lined interior for a moment of delightful surprise. The key is present but the lock does not turn.
