Chinese porcelain Ru Yao roosterhead ewer, a finely formed pouring vessel, glazed in the typical "duck-egg blue", covered with a very fine network of small pattern, iron wire craquelure, on the exterior, interior and inset base. The roosterhead has a mouth at the top in the form of a bird comb and the beak functions as a pouring spout as well as the spout below. The lips of the mouth, beak and spout and the edges of the finely formed, ringed neck are all accented in a very fine light umber glaze, matching the trim on the bottom of the short, extended foot. A ten character, seal mark in Zhuanshu script is impressed onto the inset base in dark umber glazes. The traditional, Chinese, finely carved, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China period or later.
