This inside painted amber glass bottle has a rounded rectangular form, tapering slightly towards the base with a small raised oval shape foot. The short neck has a large openng which is off centered, which is a good proof of age that it was handmade. A well composed continuous landscape covered the interiors. It is a very traditional landscape painting in Ming Dynasty (17th century ) Wu School style, complete with scholars under a pavilion, situated beneath old pine trees and on the water's edge. In the distance are mountains. On the right are large rock cliffs and to the left is a waterfall. A winged insect (out of scale) is also in the landscape, resting on a rock. . It is like having a horizontal landscape compacted into a small bottle. The artist's name is Tao Yutian陶玉田. The amber glass is typical of the period and the stopper is yellow glass. See less
