A handwoven Polish Wawel … Read more Rare Mid-Century Modern 1970’s ‘The Expedition’ Polish Wool Rug, By Cepelia & Imported by Danish Brøste. A handwoven Polish Wawel flat weave wool and flax blend tapestry or rug. Finishing the edges are overcast selvedges and a natural warp double knotted fringe at the ends. In brilliant saturated colors, this tapestry echoes past battles of the Wawel Royal Castle established in the 14th century by King Casimir III the Great and for centuries the residence of the kings of Poland and the symbol of Polish statehood. Its unique design is quintessential mid-century and would make a bold statement wherever it is sited. NOTE: I have another similar smaller tapestry in my shop if you’d like a pair for your space.
