His works have been auctioned on the stages of Christie’s, Bonham’s and Cheffin’s. There has been much written about Mr. Cox (b. 1934 - d. 2001) and his love of painting brightly-colored, floral stills, with his talented use of lighting and a heavily-laden palette knife.
I adore impasto-type, oil paintings—especially when they are done in rich colors and are encased with a gorgeous, golden baroque-style frame—that just exudes decadence, style and romance!
Artist’s signature is in the lower left quadrant of the painting and the frame is a carved, ornate, gilt wood, with a linen mat/border.
Painting is 12” x 10”, not including frame; frame is 15.5” x 13.5”. See less
