A soothing and restful mid-century modern painting, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The painting depicts a female figure with striking red lips, sitting by a balcony ledge. She sits elegantly, with her hands clasped together. We can also spot a flower pot resting by the balcony ledge.

The balcony overlooks rows of white buildings of differing heights, that stretch out into the distance. The artist has purposely simplified the architectural details of the buildings into blocks of contrasting shades of white

The colour palette of the painting is limited to naturalistic and earthy shades of browns and white. These gentle colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of tranquillity. The brushstrokes in the painting are soft and gentle, creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork, and enhancing its overall soothing aesthetic.

This oil on canvas is housed in a very well-suited walnut frame with an inner gilt window. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
