Funky and texturally interesting tray with its bamboo pole “open weave” design. The interior bottom consists of 14 slender bamboo poles which have been drilled at various points to accommodate bamboo spacers which separate each pole to give it that “open weave” look. The frame and underside are handcrafted from split bamboo poles. There is an all-around perpendicular border that frames the tray, also constructed from slender bamboo poles that have been cut to 1¾” height and nailed into place. The tortoiseshell finish is on the exterior, side and underside, while the interior bottom is golden brown in color. Extremely sturdy and well-made with very age-appropriate wear. It measures 17” x 11¾” x 2¼” W/D/H; interior 15¼” x 9¾” x 1½” W/D/H; weight 2 lbs. 8 oz. Acquired from a private estate auction, so maker or country of origin is unknown. Earthy with a Boho chic vibe, it’s perfectly suited to serve as an entryway table or ottoman accent piece.
