These figurines were designed to ward off evil spirits and protect the owners. Sancai is a versatile type of Chinese decoration using glazes, predominately in three colors-amber, green and cream. These were first developed in the late seventh century and used primarily for funerary goods. This bearded warrior appears to be in a running stance with outstretched hands, dressed in full body armor. Figure stands on wooden base with Lucite holders. Measurement listed are for figurine only. Wooden base measures 9.75"L x 4.25"D x 6"H. See less
