Couroc of Monterey, founded in 1948, produced a line of decorative items made of a proprietary phenolic resin material that resembled ebony wood and was water, burn, stain, and detergent resistant. Its unique designs often featured inlaid motifs made of natural materials such as shells, coins, and wood veneers.
