A 1967 serigraph titled Retrospect by the Japanese artist Noboru Tsurutani (1940-2007). Shapes in red, pink, green, and brown contrast against the gray background in this abstract work. Signed, dated, titled, and denoted as an Artist's Proof along the lower edge, this print is framed in a silver tone wooden frame and behind a white mat.
Noboru Tsurutani was born in Japan and attended school at the Kanazawa College of Art. After graduating from college, Tsurutani moved to the United States and taught art for more than 30 years. While in New York, he learned screenprinting techniques and began developing serigraphs. Tsurutani received numerous awards for his works, including from the Philadelphia Exhibition Print Club and the Paris Print Biennial.
