A poelle being a cooking pan.This small village on the channel sea cultivates a long tradition of hand made copper wares. Clearly marked with the "Villedieu stamp" . Not so common to come across these larger pieces that are very richly crafted with a variety of details. This one offers a brass collar creating a nice contrast with the distinct hammered pattern on the copper. A true slice of French vernacular and craftsmanship. I discovered this piece in a open air "brocante" flea market near the city of Quemper France. In excellent condition . The previous owner polished it thoroughly and it looks brand new. These copper pieces are are a hidden sparkle for those who are willing to invest some elbow grease. See less
