LITHOGRAPHY
Please note that a lithograph is not just an ordinary print. It is the most complicated and highest quality form of printing. Put simply, each color is printed as a separate plate. The color can be matched as closely as possible to the original color used by the artist. Lithography is rarely used today because it is a far more expensive process. The simplest way to tell if a print is a lithograph or an ordinary print is this: take a magnifying glass and look closely at the print. If it is another type of print or an ordinary print you will see under the magnifying glass a matrix of tiny uniform dots. If it is a lithograph you will not see this dot pattern.
