The exterior of the vase is completely covered with finely painted, hand calligraphy of archaic and eccentric variations of Zhuanshu script, Shou characters in an inky underglaze blue. The longevity character "Shou" is repeated 2,411 times: two rows of 41 characters on top of the rim, one row of 26 characters on the side of the rim, one row of 23 characters at the foot and 60 columns of 38 characters of varied sizes on the body of the vase. A blue, six character, Kangxi, reign mark within double circles is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.
