Detailed and unique Satsuma vase from the Meiji period (1868–1912). This stunning antique pottery vase features a rich and refined color palette along with intricate detail throughout -- from the myriad of flowers to the ivory and gilt dragon handles. The front of the vase shows a pheasant, stream, tree and riot of flora, while the back shows flowers in shades of gold, red, green and lavender. A dragon circles the vase just below the handles.
This piece is truly beautiful ... the more you look, the more nuance and detail you see.
This Japanese vase is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks. The paint is still vibrant and and show very little (if any) wear. It's signed on the bottom, as pictured.
Made of eathenware pottery, the vase is heavy and stands 18" tall. 7.5" in diameter across the top and approx 10" across the widest section of the vase.
