The garlic head supports two flanking strap handles decorated with leaves and a Ru Yi lappet at the base. The short neck and garlic head are decorated with band of leafy, flowering vines bracketed by double trim lines. A finely painted dragon and fenghuang amid clouds and Taoist flames adorn the front and back of the vase. Two, small, floral bumps decorate the sides. The green glaze is truly unique as it emits iridescent blues and yellows in ordinary light. A blue, four character, Yongle, reign mark in Zhuanshu script is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
