A set of 4 early 20th century French copper pots.
Unrestored original condition, lined with tin, handle made of wrought iron, pot made of unalloyed sheet copper.
Copper has been used and valued by humans for around 9000 years. The material was originally shaped with a hammer. from the beginning of the 20th century until the 1960s, the copper sheet was formed by hand on a spinning bench before machine production began in the 1960s.
Pots made of copper are excellent heat conductors, the material is robust, hygienic and corrosion-resistant. Their heat conductivity in particular makes copper an ideal material for pots and pans. This of course was recognised not least in France, the country of ‘haute cuisine’, and to this day it is impossible to imagine sophisticated cuisine without it.
This very authentic set stands in this tradition and looks highly decorative with it´s beautiful patina.
