Large, multicolored, enamel-glazed ceramic vase by Bay Keramik, West Germany, circa 1960's.
This beautiful piece, is from the Seefeld Decor, “Bay Topfermeister Kollection” (Pottery Master Collection), known to have been in production, between 1969 - 1973, showcasing a truly superb design on the body, adorned with both floral décor and modern, abstract shapes, glazed with a wide range of blue, green and yellow-colored hues (see photos.) The inside of the vase, is a warm, chocolate brown color, with hints of burnt umber, which looks very cool in contrast with the other colors (see photos.)
The maker's mark ("Bay W.-Germany") and model number ("86 45"), are embossed into the bottom of the cyan/aquamarine blue-colored base. There are also remnants of its original sticker, on one part of the upper section of the neck, just below the top (see photos.)
The piece is in overall very good, near mint, original condition, with very light signs, marks of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time on the overall structure, inside and bottom, (as can be expected for a piece of this age), but also because it was well-cared for over the years (see photos.) No cracks or chips on the body, lip, interior, base or bottom.
The vase is solid and sturdy. It has only been gently dusted with respect to the original patina of time of the smooth, enamel glaze.
A true, eye-catching, collectible, conversation piece, that will
compliment any given mid-century, rustic contemporary, modernist or other space, whether used as a centerpiece on a dining room, coffee or side table, as a floor vase, décor on a large shelf, wall unit or sideboard, as an accent piece in an entry hallway or foyer, etc.
All photos taken in natural, indoor light, so colors may vary based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed. This piece has an attribution mark,
