About The Poster: This Italian engraving from the private collection of Giorgio Balbi depicts a female figure emerging and enveloped in the dense vapors of a still boiling brazier placed on the chemist's table. Next to the brazier, some labeled test tubes, glass rods and vials visually transport us into the atmosphere of the laboratory, where the experiment is being carried out.
