The gilt bronze base is separate from the jar, but the gilt bronze cap is integral to it, and cannot be removed.

This powder blue jar is in good original condition. The jar was separated from its lid at some point and the lid was replaced with a gilt bronze top. The jar has been drilled for use as a lamp, perhaps. Otherwise the jar shows wear consistent with age and use.
