It originally appeared in a … Read more This is a Mid-Century French fashion print for a design by the iconic Elsa Schiaparelli. It originally appeared in a haute couture French magazine that dates to 1950. It is NOT a recent reproduction print. It features a 3/4 length black ensemble that is "lit" by the oversized white collar lapels. Note the movement and flair of the 3/4 length jacket. The wide lapels are mirrored with the design of the 3/4 length sleeve. The pocketed jacket is worn over a pencil style belted skirt. The design has a strong illustrative quality. The design is a creation from Ducharne, a textile manufacturer founded in 1920 in Lyon , France, the world renown center of textiles and fabrics in the early 20th century. The fashion print is signed and dated by its illustrator, Bernard Blossac (1917-.2002). Blossac worked for the top Parisienne couturiers including Schiaparelli, Dior, Balenciaga, Worth, Givenchy, etc throughout the mid-century years. The print is perfect for today's vintage clothing collector or fashionista. It has become increasing more difficult to find designs by the iconic fashion houses with the passage of time.
