A wonderful rectangular ironstone margarine slab by Parnall and Sons of Bristol. This rectangular grocers display slab was used before refrigeration to keep food cool on display such as butter and margarine. They were often placed outside overnight to bring down the temperature of the dairy products it promoted when in use. Along the outer edge of the slab as an under-glaze black transfer is beautifully displaying the word ‘Margarine’. with makers mark to base ‘Parnall & Sons Ltd, Parnall House, West Smithfield, London Green E.C.1. Works Fishponds Bristol. Slight staining to top with no restorations. English, circa 1910. This piece has an attribution mark,
