These images are of a pair of original botanical engravings from the third edition of "Hortus Eystettensis" by Basilius Besler, published in 1713. Each engraving features different varieties of peppers, labeled with Latin names such as "Piper Indicum bifurcata figura," "Piper Indicum minimum erectum," "Piper Indicum medium longum erectum," and "Piper Indicum maximum rotundum erectum." The engravings are hand-colored, showcasing the detailed and vibrant illustrations typical of Besler's work.
