1 Fine Early 20th Century Art Deco AC Motor Louis Lejeune Original Chrome Plated 1930's Sporting Racing Greyhound Of The Road Classic Car Mascot Sculpture.
Add some wow factor to your home or office area with this exceptional sporting dog animal car mascot.
This rare model design is a sporting racing greyhound which is in the leaping position mounted onto a later decorative marble base.
Stamped signed with makers mark LL for Louis Lejune to the back of the Greyhounds lower area & title inscribed on the lower Greyhound front area. "Greyhound of the Road", this car mascot was fitted to AC cars during the 1930's.
The casting is superb, you can clearly see the intricate details which highlight movement and shape of this exciting wonderful sculpture.
Made from metal with chrome plated finish, set on a later marble base..

Maker is by Lejeune who are well known they are a second to none bronze founding for over a century. Emile & his wife Augustine emigrated from there home in France to move to England in the capital London in around 1904. The company was then AEL, they focsused on small sized, decorative architectural car hood ornament fitxtures with outstanding architectural designed pieces. As the market for cars expanded in the early 20th century a knock on effect was also a greater demand for car mascots. Emile was a master sculptor. By 1929 Lejeune had established itself as the best car mascot producer globally”
Very sadly Emile left his wife Augustine at the end of the 1920's during the great stock market crash, he returned to his home in France. Augustine and her son, Louis, took over the business in 1933, they renamed it Louis Lejeune Ltd. Louis and his mother ran the company from 132 Great Portland Street, London until Louis' death at the end of the late 1960's. The business continued as a going concern in London until the late 1970's when it was purchased by the known sculptor Sir David Hughes, he relocated the business from London to Wilburton in Cambridgeshire, where it still is today. Sir David's son Timothy has been in charge of the company since the late 1990's.
