Vintage graphite illustration by Anatoly Itkin of Rococo figures with a charriot in front of a chateau. A sketch from a group of illustrations he prepared for "Dangerous Liaisons" by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. Presented matted and in an ornate silver frame. Signed and dated 1982 under matting.
Anatoly Itkin (B. 1931 in Moscow) graduated from the Moscow Art School in 1950. Beginning in 1954, he worked as an illustrator in many Moscow publishing houses where he illustrated a number of books including classics like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Itkin was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Honored Artist of Russia, winner of many competitions, and his works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Pushkin Museum, Central Pushkin Museum in St. Petersburg, the State Museum of Literature, Literary Museum A. Tolstoy in Samara, the Museum-Reserve "Abramtsevo", Tver Regional Museum and in private collections around the world.
