St. Helena island antique framed aquatint etching by Dubourg after Tobin dated 1815, England
Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled to St. Helena Island in 1815, the same year this etching was made. He died on the island in 1821 after six years in exile. This historic aquatint is inscribed as follows:
“A View of Sugar Loaf Point, St. Helena. A ship sending her boat ashore prior to landing off James Town.”

Rear-Admiral George Tobin (1768–1838) was an English Royal Navy officer and artist. Mathew Dubourg was a British engraver and aquatinter, active in London from circa 1808–1838.
A copy of this aquatint is part of the collection at the Musée Carnavalet in Paris and the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, CT. The piece comes beautifully matted and framed, ready for display. It makes an ideal gift for anyone interested in Napoleon’s life, military achievements, and historical impact.
