This striking framed botanical wall art features a plant from the nightshade family with a rich history of medicinal and ritualistic use. The plate is inscribed as follows:

This engraving is Plate 57 from Phytographie Médicale by French botanist and physician Joseph Roques (1772–1850). First published between 1821 and 1825, it described medicinal, poisonous, and narcotic plants including mushrooms, poppies, and cannabis, as well as their remedies.
This antique botanical was hand-engraved by French artist and engraver L.F.J. Hocquart (1789–1870) and combines scientific significance with artistic beauty. With its fine craftsmanship and intriguing subject matter, it makes an exceptional conversation starter and a welcome addition to a variety of interior design styles.
