Pair of Early Meissen Square Bowls – Crossed Swords & Marcolini Star Mark, c. 1814, Germany
This exquisite pair of Meissen Marcolini square bowls dates back to the early 1800s and features beautiful hand-painted large roses in loose bouquets, along with scattered sprigs, a design often referred to as Deutsche Blumen or Blumenbukett.
These bowls are perfect as wall decoration or as a thoughtful gift to celebrate a significant milestone.
Both pieces are marked on the underside with the iconic Meissen blue crossed swords. Both bear the Marcolini star mark, named after Count Camillo Marcolini, Prime Minister of the German Kingdom of Saxony and director of the Meissen factory from 1774 to 1814. Under his leadership, Meissen production standards were elevated to new heights, and objects from this period are considered of superior quality.
Measurements: 8" square by 1.5" deep (20 cm by 4 cm) approximately. Weight: the pair is almost 2 1/2 lbs. unpacked.
