Leather trunks, small or large, have a classic and timeless look that never goes out of style. In addition to the storage capability a trunk offers, its look-and-feel can elevate the aesthetic of any room. This fabulously earthy and rich-looking petite leather wrapped wooden trunk was handcrafted in Peru (see photo 10 for label). There are two handles, one of each side, that are also leather clad and attached with stylish brass rivets (see photo 7) that allow you to effortlessly pick up and move the trunk. The frame of the trunk is handcrafted from tornillo wood, which grows in the Loreton Huanuco provinces of Peru. The wood is comparable in strength to the American elm wood. The trunk’s exterior is wrapped in leather done in a playful over and under checkerboard design, while the interior is solid stained wood. Also, on the interior, the lift top has a left side catch hinge (see photo 8) which allows the top to conveniently remain open when adding items for storage. Thick strong piano hinges on the backside (see photo 4) are sturdy and provide strength. For a petite trunk, the storage compartment is roomy, so you should have no problem storing linens or anything else that needs to be tucked away. Color of the dyed and waxed leather is tobacco brown with umber undertones; stained wood is a deep mahogany. It hails from the mid 1980s to early 1990s. It weighs approximately 15 lbs. and measures as follows:

In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Solid construction with strong joints. Genuine leather so there are random and subtle markings or wrinkles that are common to any type of natural hide leather. On the interior bottom, there was a small stain that we re-stained to match the rest of the interior (see photo 11). It is slight, difficult to see unless you are looking for it (see photo 11). An excellent storage solution that will complement most any style and is ideal for placement under a console table or at the foot of a child’s bed. For a smaller home, it could serve wonderfully as a petite coffee table atop an iron or wooden stand (not included).
