These pieces … Read more This pair of high-quality armchairs was manufactured in Germany during the 1930s and was designed by Erich Diekmann. These pieces feature steam bent wooden frames of beech with woven rope seats.

Erich Diekmann (1896-1944) was a German cabinet maker, furniture designer and university lecturer. Alongside Marcel Breuer, he is now considered the most important furniture designer o the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau. He primarily developed furniture (cabinets, tables and seating), initially made of wood in a basic geometric shape with rectangular frames and their standardized design, which enabled cost-effective production.

Later, organic seating furniture made of natural materials and tubular steel, some of which was boldly shaped, as well as rug design, clocks, furnishing and color concepts for interiors.
