It … Read more This is an exceptional late 19th century antique French Louis XV style nightstand with an inset beveled marble top. It has a single dovetail drawer and is quarter-veneered on the front drawer and door which also has a carved scrolled border. Behind the door is a marble-lined area which was used as a pot cupboard or it could be used as a humidor. The front top corners have a large carved shell and the bottom front has a carved scalloped edge. The sides are bombe with quarter-veneer. All four cabriole legs have a carved shell and acanthus leaf that end in a carved scroll. The natural walnut tones are warm with a dark blush and white beveled marble top is in very good. This nightstand can be used as a side table as well.
