A striking and sculptural vintage cast iron side chair by Emil Hauser, stamped and dated 1937, originating from the Brooklyn, New York foundry. This piece beautifully blends neoclassical inspiration with early 20th-century industrial craftsmanship, featuring an ornate back with stylized acanthus leaves and scrolling volutes reminiscent of a Corinthian capital.
The chair has a crisp white finish, highlighting the intricate cast details and giving it a clean, updated look. The seat has been upholstered in a nautical motif—including compass roses, script, and maritime imagery in red and neutral tones—adding a curated, coastal-meets-classical twist. Underneath the upholstery is a teak-slatted seat. You have the option to recover the seat or use the teak.
Graceful slender legs with a subtle saber curve lend lightness to the otherwise substantial iron construction, making this an ideal accent chair for a variety of interiors—from traditional to coastal, Hollywood Regency to eclectic collected spaces. A rare and character-rich piece with authentic American provenance.
Weighs approx 40-50 lbs. Seat upholstery inset measures 15.75" deep x 16.75" wide at the front x 14.5" wide at the back x 1.25" thick.
