It features … Read more This striking hand-blown bowl is a beautiful example of Mid-Century Italian Art Glass from Murano, Italy (c. 1950s–1960s). It features vibrant red/burnt rust orange and sunny yellow glass ribbons expertly swirled and encased within thick, crystal-clear glass. This particular three-cornered, undulating shape is typical of Mid-Century Modern design aimed at being a decorative centerpiece.

The technique of  infusing colored  glass "canes" or trails into a clear body and then shaping it dynamically is a signature Murano style. The technique used for the internal color is known as filigrana or vetro a retortoli (for twisted canes) when done in a pattern, but here it is applied as abstract swirls or streaks.
